Vethasatthi 2012

Vethasatthi 2012 is an International Conference on Medical Varmalogy (Marma Chikitsa),  an ancient holistic Indian Medical System. (Varmam in Tamil Nadu is synonymous with Marma in Kerala.)

Welcome Note

It gives us great pleasure to inform you that the world’s first International Conference on Medical Varmalogy named “Vethasatthi 2012″ is being organised in Coimbatore City, Tamil Nadu, India on 12-13 May 2012.

‘Varmam’ denotes the subtle energy that circulates in the human body, performing an amazing array of vital physical and mental functions. It has been well understood and used to heal people in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu, since at least the 5th Century A.D. ‘Vethasatthi’ is another name of ‘Varmam’.

The conference is being organised to bring to the world stage this hitherto hidden knowledge, to showcase the results obtained by modern-day registered medical practitioners using this science and to give you a first-hand taste of some of its techniques, through demonstrations by highly skilled experts.

On behalf of the Organising Committee, we would like to extend you a warm Indian invitation to participate in this unique event and experience this traditional Indian medical system at close quarters.

We look forward to welcoming you in Coimbatore in May 2012,

Organizing Committee
Vethasatthi 2012

Varmalogy:

Varmalogy is one of India’s ancient systems of medicine. The word ‘varmam’ denotes ‘energy flow in the body’ also known as ‘life energy’. The places where this energy resides in the body are identified as varmam points. The basic objective of the varmam system of medicine is to stimulate these points using palms, fingers, etc., to cure diseases.

Varmam Works:

Varmalogy has been practised successfully in the Southern Part of India for centuries. It has produced results ranging from promising to astonishing, across a wide spectrum of diseases and disorders. Medical professionals who practise Varmalogy have treated hundreds of patients successfully and they will present their findings, along with the supporting laboratory investigations, at the International Conference.

Ancient Indian Medical System:

Varmalogy is based on written texts, the earliest of which date back to the B.C. era; over 120 titles are found, mostly in the Tamil language. Most of the available texts are in the form of manuscripts. Written evidence of the clinical practice of Varmalogy is available from as early as the 5th century A.D.

Why has the world not heard much about it?

During the British occupation of India, several indigenous sciences went underground, to escape persecution. Varmalogy did too, but survived and flourished through several traditional lineages in the deep south of Tamil Nadu, India. It is now undergoing an active, scientific, modern-day revival in public practice, through institutions like Arts Research Institute.

Uniqueness of Varmalogy:

  • Minimal costs for results achieved, often with no medicines needed
  • No side effects or adverse effects documented.
  • Also works well in conjunction with other systems of medicine, like Allopathy, Homeopathy, Siddha and Ayurveda.
  • Holistic system that includes disease prevention.
  • Promotes effective life-style management.

International Conference on Varmalogy: Main Attractions

Arts Research Institute (ARI):

A registered charitable trust based in Coimbatore, Tamilnadu, India, Arts Research Institute is organising the first International Conference on Varmalogy. It has been spreading the science of varmam in India since 2005.

Nearly 2000 registered medical practitioners, across different systems of medicine, have learnt Varmalogy through ARI and are serving the public today.

ARI has 21 treatment centres across India –17 in the state of Tamil Nadu and one each in Pondicherry, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and New Delhi. There are 75 doctors across various disciplines, who serve patients at these centres. 300 volunteers serve alongside them. Nearly three thousand people receive varmam treatment each month through our Institute. It is noteworthy that treatments are conducted under the supervision of registered medical practitioners, who have government recognition to practise medicine.

ARI undertakes varmam research and teaching in collaboration with DRDO-India, Department of Indian Medicine and Homeopathy, Chennai, Government of Tamil Nadu and Sports Ayurvedic Research Cell, Government of Kerala.

ARI also conducts free training programmes periodically for parents and care-takers of special children. The first phase of such programmes has covered southern India (Tamil Nadu and the neighbouring states).

Conference Objectives:

  • To expand the reach of varmam medicine, closely bound to the Tamil language till date, and make it accessible to all.
  • To create an interactive platform for the medical professionals across the world to learn and practise medical Varmalogy and to experience its true potential and achievements.
  • To encourage research and development in India’s medical Varmalogy and to develop it as a universally accepted medical science.
  • To show the medical professionals how they can combine varmam with their systems of medicine to get better clinical results.
